Common questions
How do I restore my Pro purchase on a new phone?
Open Settings → DotDash Pro → Restore purchases while signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with. Purchases also sync automatically when you sign in to your DotDash account.
How do I cancel DotDash Pro?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google. On iOS go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android open Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the paid period.
I lost my streak — can I get it back?
Email us within 48 hours from the account’s email address and we’ll take a look. Pro members have streak freezes built in.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your progress and personal data permanently. You can also email us to request deletion.
Can I change the tone frequency or speed?
Yes — Settings → Audio lets you set tone from 400–800 Hz, character speed and Farnsworth spacing. Adaptive speed can be turned off if you prefer a fixed WPM.
Is DotDash free?
Yes. You can start without an account and learn the first lessons free. A free account unlocks daily lessons and practice with hearts. DotDash Pro removes limits and adds guided sessions, infinite hearts and Beep outfits for $4.99/month, $29.99/year or a one-time $79.99 lifetime purchase. There are no ads on any plan.
How long does it take to learn Morse code?
Most learners can recognise the whole alphabet by ear in 3–6 weeks with 5–10 minutes of daily practice. Reaching a comfortable conversational speed (around 15–20 WPM) typically takes a few months of consistent, short sessions — which is exactly what streaks are for.
What is the Koch method?
A teaching technique developed by psychologist Ludwig Koch in the 1930s. You learn characters at full speed from the start, beginning with just two (K and M) and adding a new one each time you reach 90% accuracy. It avoids the plateau that comes from memorising a visual chart and counting dots and dashes.
Does DotDash work offline?
Yes. Lessons, practice drills, the decoder and the cheat sheet all work without an internet connection. Cloud sync and secret messages need a connection.
Can I use DotDash for ham radio (CW)?
Absolutely. DotDash teaches standard ITU Morse with adjustable tone frequency (400–800 Hz), Farnsworth timing and speeds from 5 to 40 WPM, and covers prosigns and common abbreviations like CQ, 73 and SK.
Is DotDash suitable for kids?
Yes. Lessons are short and game-like, there are no ads, and the secret-messages feature is a favourite with families and scout groups. No account is needed to start.
Which devices is DotDash on?
iPhone and iPad via the App Store, and Android phones and tablets via Google Play. The app is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.
